Scripture focus for me: Isaiah 14:26-27 (ESV), 26 This is the purpose that is purposed concerning the whole earth, and this is the hand that is stretched out over all the nations. 27 For the Lord of hosts has purposed, and who will annul it? His hand is stretched out, and who will turn it back?

Why did this scripture engage me: It seems that God is placing special efforts to draw my attention toward my passion and purpose in service to Him. For the past several weeks, I have heard sermons, songs and been in conversations that caused my thoughts to examine my passion and purpose. For example, this week alone, it showed up in my weekly reading plus God revealed the subject through secular media, as I watched a television show based on the results of one man’s passion.

Change my life: One of the things I heard this week from Pastor Steven Furtick was the question, “is your passion following your purpose?” For me, that speaks volumes toward spiritual stagnation. Unguided passion uses a tremendous amount of effort producing little to no fruit, usually resulting in discouragement and failure. From this point on in my relationship with Jesus, I will seek His will for my purpose and His guidance for my passion. Just as God’s purpose and passion, is to love, save and free His creation. The same has to be true for me, He has purposed the same for my life which will ignite a passion within me to love, accept and mentor all of His created.

Prayer of gratitude and purpose: Father; Please reveal in detail my purpose for your service, each day. Help me Lord; that my purpose be yours and my passion make you proud. Dear Lord; I seek clarity, direction and affirmation in attaining your perfect purpose for my life. Thank you, God for loving me. Amen
