Daddy's Lap
Sunday’s Monday
I have had a special time this week! I have joined a new bible (book) study and God is blessing my time there. I was able to deliver frozen meals for “Meals on Wheels” this week and made three new acquaintances, which made the time even more precious. I love seniors and God shows daily, He does too! Thanks to all my readers, may God bless!
Pat and I are involved in a study using the book Following Jesus into the Blessings written by Jerry Daley. This book is filled with reminders of things we know but maybe have pushed to the back of our minds, as well, we find new ways of seeing and interpreting things. I am enjoying the study because of the in-depth insight of the author to include the internal issues that arise as he explains his message. Now I don’t intend to give anything away in the book or quote a lot of what is used because it’s worth the cost to read. One of the points that was made, and “I loved it,” as I see so much need and so little mentioned. Jerry used the term “lap time” (for me that means meditation) and that set off a fury of emotions, thoughts and wonder in my mind. I can’t explain the exact feeling of safety, fulfillment, love (every good emotion), as I envision trust, confidence, completeness of faith which begs to question, why I fail to curl up in God’s lap daily. The bible has a scripture titled God Offers Comfort to All, and it comes from 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (NLT), 3 All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. 4 He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. This is so simple and yet I miss it in so many ways, it blows my mind. There is so much going on in life I at times become so stressed, which dampens my joy and yet I choose to ignore and accept it. “Crazy!” Not only am I missing out, I’m robbing others of God’s comfort, I cannot give that which I do not have. You see there is a great teaching to be found in the reading of Romans 8:26-27 (NLT), 26 And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. 27 And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will. I believe this writing to be especially aimed to those who have fallen or haven’t met Jesus. One the first things that comes up is “I don’t know how to pray.” This scripture is simply an invitation to curl up in God’s lap and go for a heart to heart with God. Allow God to love you as only He can! Receive the grace, mercy and cleansing that He has for all of us, and I’m here to tell you, if you think getting a hot shower fills good, prepare to have your mind blown. There is no feeling like the feeling of God’s love and security! Lap time is the closest any of us will get to God, here on earth and yet there are so many that fail to find time for God’s lap. We all have been given the invitation in Matthew 11:28-30 (NLT), 28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” For those that don’t know Please, don’t miss-interpret this scripture, it’s not saying you will not have problems or that life will be easy. God is saying you will have peace and strength to endure what comes and you will not go through things alone. For those things that jump up from nowhere in this life, God will supply the wisdom, peace and support required to walk us through whatever, if we apply His lap time. I would suggest if you’re going through something you apply 1 Peter 5:6-7 (NLT), 6 So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. 7 Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. Just try it! I invite you to crawl up in God’s lap without saying a word verbally, have a conversation of the hearts with only one request, Daddy I need your strong arms around me! Do this daily and see the change! John 16:22 (NLT), So you have sorrow now, but I will see you again; then you will rejoice, and no one can rob you of that joy. Daddy (God) I need you, to just hold me!
HAVE A BLESSED WEEK BY BEING A BLESSING TO OTHERS!
