One N Done

Sunday’s Monday

This has been a week of spiritual fascination, growth and joy in abundance for me. Once again, I have been spiritually enlightened through the local Brother Night Program, I made a new spiritual acquaintance at a breakfast with some brothers from Brother Night the following morning. I delivered frozen meals for Meals on Wheels this week. “love it!” Our granddaughter Emily Loftin turned 13 and our great grandson Brian Major turns 2 tomorrow. We are so blessed!

During my reading this morning, the thought came to me of the various conversations that I been in over the years of the One N Done system of salvation. Now I’m not even spiritually mature enough to resolve the issue of once saved always saved. However, I do feel comfortable in offering the nuggets which God has given me.

As humans we naturally flow best in an environment of least resistance and for that reason, we are easily led by all types of media which markets the idea of a One N Done society, emphasizing the ease and time saving virtues. “Comfortable”, is the hidden word in all this; the path of least inconvenience! Galatians 5:17 (NLT), The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. Following Jesus requires deliberate effort, strong determination and a will to live a Godly life. Which goes against the very nature of being human and causes a great internal conflict between good (the angel on one shoulder) and evil (the devil on the other shoulder) as some would say. Ergo the once saved always saved or the one and done system became popular with most of the world, in the early churches.

Which for me, brings into question the meaning of Romans 11:22 (NLT), Notice how God is both kind and severe. He is severe toward those who disobeyed, but kind to you if you continue to trust in his kindness. But if you stop trusting, you also will be cut off. As God already knows, I am an example learner and the best example I can think of, is the red-hot poker, one doesn’t pick it up but once. As a matter of fact, I couldn’t force someone to pick it up, again! Why because they believe (know) it will burn and bring great pain. They live and are guided by what they believe and know! Believing with their all that poker will burn the skin off them, they live, and act accordingly. For me that says a lot! We all live according to what we believe to be true! Thus, the question arises at some point, were you “actually” saved, and why do you ask, can I lose my salvation?

Should you or I find ourselves asking these questions, please understand we are already in trouble, no matter what the answer. Satan (our enemy) has already found a crack in our armor and has entered our holy sanctuary with the tool of doubt. 2 Corinthians 5:9-10 (ESV), 9 So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil. We need to ask God to lead us to that person He created in advance to help us. We all desperately need a mentor, to help us understand, that which we do not. As well we need to co-operate with the teachings of Jesus, to learn how to align our heart and mind with His purpose and plan for our lives. After all, we were created to worship God as stated in Acts 13:2-3 (ESV), 2 While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” 3 Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off. They were worshiping the Lord and fasting because of the love they had for Jesus. We all were born with a genuine life lasting need to please and cooperate with Jesus, as a result we find sanctification for salvation, which some have chosen to overrule. It’s all about love!!!

As it is written in 1 John 4:19 (ESV), We love because he first loved us. No games will go unnoticed, no lies will be accepted, and no-one is worth the deception. God knows all of us with unquestionable intimacy! Which includes our very soul! So, if you’re asking another human about your qualification for once saved always saved, you are “definitely” talking to the wrong one. This is a question for God (only), and it truly needs to be asked before death and the Great Judgement Day! 2 Corinthians 5:10 (ESV), 10 For we must all stand before Christ to be judged. One N Done only works with Jesus!!

HAVE A BLESSED WEEK BY BEING A BLESSING TO OTHERS!
