One Can Know The Book and Never Know The Author

Sunday’s Monday

One can know the book and never know the Autor!

This has been an amazing week for my spiritual growth, in that it has been filled with opportunities to apply what God has taught me. It seems that each day has someone in it that needs encouragement, cheering up or a simple ear to vent their feeling into. Today’s community Sun Rise Service was out of the park! I love partnering with other churches in various events and services. I learned this from my pastor a long time ago; I attend church, but I live in the community, now where do you think God needs you most? MAY YOUR EASTER OVERFLOW WITH THE BLESSINGS OF GOD!

God has placed a disturbing fact in my mind over the last several weeks and it is heart breaking to say the least. I have no authoritative statistics to support what I am about to discus, other than my own encounters with people. It seems that there is a lot more church goers (than I ever realized) that know the bible and yet have never met the author (God). These people apparently have to spout scripture with every other breath in an effort to proclaim their spirituality and inform us of their spotless church attendance. It seems the church allows then to achieve different levels of posture inside the organization based on their knowledge of the book. In other words, they throw on their Christian suit in an attempt to impress man through worldly works.

The more I wrestled with God over this today's subject, the more obvious it became, this is what He wanted published for Easter. Spiritual deception! Most churches were poorly filled this morning for Sun Rise Service however these few were committed to celebrating the risen savior who defeated death and the grave. They believe in eternal life for those who know Jesus, and the love of a God who cares enough to adopt as His child anyone who believes in Jesus. As for the “majority” of church goers, Easter is simply a “holiday!” All about the new outfits, the attention that’s given to family fun, those special events and programs that are offered during Easter break and that need to show off. In many cases families will gather from afar to be seen as one big happy unit and the pews for regular services will be filled with anxious clock watchers wanting out (ASAP) to which a lot churches will accommodate them.

It appears to me that the thoughts God has given me will apply to all of us in some shape or order. God gave me Galatians 1:6-7 (NLT), 6 I am shocked that you are turning away so soon from God, who called you to himself through the loving mercy of Christ. You are following a different way that pretends to be the Good News 7 but is not the Good News at all. You are being fooled by those who deliberately twist the truth concerning Christ. The last line of this scripture jumped all over me, in fact, I’m embarrassed to say, that I need work in some of these areas. I “have to” know, that I believe Jesus in totality, correctly and passionately. I am consistently finding scripture that I’ve been taught over the years, that is not correct, or I have altered some scripture over the years to better fit my comfort zone and I don’t feel like I’m floating this boat alone.

2 Peter 3:16 (NLT), 16 speaking of these things in all of his letters. Some of his comments are hard to understand, and those who are ignorant and unstable have twisted his letters to mean something quite different, just as they do with other parts of Scripture. And this will result in their destruction. You have to know that Satan has such a compelling way with words, the same is true of our thoughts and dreams. Satan is a master of patience, when it comes to turning the inconceivable into justifiable inside one’s mind. It is here that the truth is made strong or weak and it here that the alteration is given validity. Jesus unintentionally starts to fade from our conscious thought as Satan grows in his ability to maneuver and manipulate one’s mind and actions.

Sadly, we enter into the safe zone, where Satan has us believe we are secure, comfortable and blessed! We are living life doing everything as we did before, reading our bible, attending church and giving to God. All is well! However, our quite time with God has all but stopped and when we read, we go through the motions without study or thought. Our personal relationship with Jesus is diminished to no more than greeting a stranger in the hallway, with an uncaring hello…….”Scary isn’t it!” Jesus has now become our genie in a bottle, we bring Him out as needed!

In my reading this morning I ran across this statement and felt the need to share it. Surrender to God comes before intimacy with God. Knowing God is intimacy; knowing about God is merely evaluation. Now what part of that did you not get. The bible merely offers the wisdom and knowledge of God, but it doesn’t give you God Himself. God does not come to you or I in words, wisdom or knowledge. God comes to you and I in spirit. King David wrote; Psalm 63:1 (NLT), O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole-body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water. Now that’s knowing Jesus!

If you read down this far, I pray that you’re considering a long quite consultation with Jesus on where you are in your relationship with Him. I also pray, 1 Timothy 6:11-14 (NLT), 11 But you, Timothy, are a man of God; so, run from all these evil things. Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. 12 Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have declared so well before many witnesses. 13 And I charge you before God, who gives life to all, and before Christ Jesus, who gave a good testimony before Pontius Pilate, 14 that you obey this command without wavering. Then no one can find fault with you from now until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again. Aman Get to know the author!

HAVE A BLESSED WEEK BY BEING A BLESSING TO OTHERS!
