We All, Have, The Call!

Sunday’s Monday

We All, Have, The Call!

Man! I am on top of the world today as God has blessed me above and beyond. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday God gave me the great privilege to deliver 226 meals to the Seniors of Meals on Wheels of Catawba County, NC, then Thursday evening we held the inaugural meeting of Brother Night East in Newton, NC. There was a good crowd, good food and great speaker. Saturday, we celebrated the upcoming arrival of our 2nd great grandchild with a baby shower and I had a great time. I love the family!!

I was struggling this morning to hear what God wanted said this week and the fact is, He wasn’t saying anything. He had spent the week showing me exactly what I needed for today. This was His week for bathing in His love, through opportunities and people. God is always showing me how to live outside myself but this week He went further than usual. He covered me with more than I could have ever expected, and it felt so good!

It seems that God is spending more time with me on this subject than most of the others. He is continually teaching me, His kind of love, the love He speaks of in 1 John 3:17-18 (NIV), 17 If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? 18 Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. Love is an action, not a feeling of affection from the brain but the act of doing something heartfelt and kind for someone else. John speaks of material possessions which is necessary in today’s economy of things. However, time, patience and concern are considered as highly valuable possessions in today’s commodities.

As most of you know, God has placed me in the ministry of Meals on Wheels as a volunteer and I love it. It is within my means (budget wise) as well, I have the time it requires, and God is teaching me so much (about me) through it. Hebrews 13:16 (NIV), 16 And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased. I am learning firsthand the power contained in kindness, the infectiousness of love and the true meaning of gratitude. Traits I always had (I guess) and never appreciated for their value or understood their works. But boy; is it impowering and yet humbling to be able to share so little and gain so much.

Another tool God has introduced me to is Brother Night, in-which flows in much of the same teaching, only on a slightly different scale. Again, I am totally grateful to God for the opportunity to serve and learn from this group of Jesus followers. I have completely shed my shell, as I receive God’s love through my brother’s in Christ. You see; it has taken years and a lot of good Christian men, spending many patience hours, to pry me out of that shell. The best thing I’ve learned through Brother Night is the affirmation that there is no “poof,” and all the bad is turned to good, every sinful habit disappears and / or the whole world is in a better place. Every brother who chooses to follow Jesus, has and is, fighting the good fight of faith. Please don’t hear what I’m not saying! This is a good fight of joy, peace and love.

Time has convinced me of the truth within 1 Peter 2:4-5 (NIV), 4 As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— 5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. I am under construction of contractor God! God is building His church and it is within me! With each passing day of obedience, another perfect stone is precisely placed in order to strengthen “my body” the dwelling place of God.

The biggest thing I’ve learned to date is found in Hebrews 10:23-25 (NIV), 23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. We need each other! It seems over the years; people have tried to replaced God’s church (His people) with a building and that’s wrong. The church is designed to fulfill the purpose of Jesus and that is through each induvial passionately following in the footsteps of Jesus. However, the trend today is the church (a brick and mortar building) is merely a place to house those that are paid to worry about the hungry, pray for the afflicted, counsel the problematic and deal with the dying. However, Jesus speaks of this in Galatians 6:2 (NIV), Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ. We all, have the call!

Hebrews 13:20-21 (NIV), 20 Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, 21 equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

HAVE A BLESSED WEEK BY BEING A BLESSING TO OTHERS!
