Jesus Talk

In light of all this coronavirus or covid-19 (which ever you prefer), I think it’s important to understand how God would have us to exemplify His desire for each of us during this time of trial. Just as anything we face on this earth; we have a say in our decision to be fearful or faithful. I know for some of you this can get confusing however this may help in things as they are. God gave the gift of morning to us, which means He still has things for each to accomplish in His service. I have a philosophy that I’ve used for many years and it helps to keep me faithful. When people ask me “how are you”, my reply is “wonderful” to which, I usually get “are you really” and I say “Yes! I woke up breathing and wasn’t in a jail cell or in a hospital room, however I am on life support from a God who loves me. How great is that?” The next thing I usually get is a big old smile across their face, which makes me even happier. This is a time of learning from Ephesians 4:32 (NLT), Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.

We (the world) have the perfect opportunity to learn and adjust our lifestyle to better fit that which Jesus exampled to us through His inspired word (the bible). This is the time to examine what each of our lives have become and how happy we are with the way its honoring Jesus. I’m discovering, this temporal life we have here on earth is not at all what I was taught or thought it is. Life here, is simply a tool Jesus uses in preparing us for His promised resurrection of us into eternity. As it is written in John 5:28-29 (NLT), 28 Don’t be so surprised! Indeed, the time is coming when all the dead in their graves will hear the voice of God’s Son, 29 and they will rise again. Those who have done good will rise to experience eternal life, and those who have continued in evil will rise to experience judgment. We must ask Jesus to examine our lives to assure we’re in the good column of verse 29 and if not, ask Him, how to get there and be willing to accept the life changes that will be required.

I said all this to lead to the subject of change and how imperative it is to life on earth. I can’t remember if I heard it said or it came to me, but I have used the statement a lot. You will never come into the presence of Jesus and leave in the same condition in-which you came! Now, I realize this sounds like the perfect oxymoron, but please hear me out. God is a God of change and yet God never changes! As we are told in Hebrews 13:8 (NLT), Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. On the other- hand we are born to this world which has no understanding of spiritual things as God explains in 1 Corinthians 2:14 (NLT), But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means. Ergo, to understand and believe in the truth of Jesus, we must desire to become ever changing, in view of 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NLT), 16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17 God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

We now find ourselves in the midst of a worldwide time of adjustment and proving to ourselves, where we rate on or stand on our belief in God. At this point, each individual (in church or not) needs to meet Jesus in a very private, secluded place and as the old hymn sings, “Have A Little Talk With Jesus” and don’t stop until it “Makes It Right”. God knew that we would have trouble in this area of life, so He sent a helper to stand with us as we pray and talk with Him. Romans 8:26-27 (NLT), tells us in 26 And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. 27 And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will. The results of so little effort may overwhelm you!

I pray as you read the following, you’ll find confidence, commitment and comfort for today’s problems. 1 John 5:18-21 (NLT), 18 We know that God’s children do not make a practice of sinning, for God’s Son holds them securely, and the evil one cannot touch them. 19 We know that we are children of God and that the world around us is under the control of the evil one. 20 And we know that the Son of God has come, and he has given us understanding so that we can know the true God. And now we live in fellowship with the true God because we live in fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ. He is the only true God, and he is eternal life. 21 Dear children, keep away from anything that might take God’s place in your hearts.

HAVE A BLESSED WEEK BY BEING A BLESSING TO OTHERS!
