ADJUSTABLE!

This is an intriguing thought that hit me on my way home from a meeting as I was conversing with God. Adjustable, we are all constantly in a mode of adjustment especially when we’re asleep. The Oxford Dictionary defines Adjustment as, a small alteration or movement made to achieve a desired fit, appearance, or result. Which turned my thinking toward the number of adjustments I make in an average day. Impossible! Right? I can’t comprehend the number of adjustments that occur in my life per day as most are made unknowingly by God. Like the times when I speak before I think or throw that look of disgust at a person or maybe just ignore someone, “that’s all me” but what about the times I respond totally opposite, (that’s all God)? He serves unmeasurable grace in those moments when I’m too self-absorbed to recognize how contaminated my decisions are. I unconsciously, in the briefness of a second have the power to make or break someone’s day, and staying connected to God helps to prevent my self-absorption as described in Romans 8:5 (ESV), For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. When this happens, God is faithful to adjust my heart.
We all have times when we get off course and stray from following Jesus, which is nothing new, it has happened since the introduction of sin to the world. This is why God gave us a Spiritual Positioning System (His Holy Spirit) to guide us to Him. Just as today’s Global Positioning System depends on a satellite link to operate correctly and guide us to the desired location, we believers have a Spiritual Positioning System (God’s Holy Spirit) which is linked to God Himself to show us the way. Here is where adjustable comes into play! Figuring that there are others like me, and sometimes become smarter than either of these positioning systems and go our own way, only to find we’re lost and in a mess. It is now that we have to adjust our thinking from depending on ourselves, to depending on something far beyond our understanding. I have learned that man’s GPS is sometimes unreliable, whereas God’s Spiritual Positioning System cannot and will not fail. It always leads us to John 16:13 (NLT), 13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future.
I recently read a stimulating quote from Dr. Caroline Leaf, “You cannot sit back and wait to be happy and healthy and have a great thought life; you have to make the choice to make this happen.” This explains a lot when looking at today’s world because many are making personal adjustments based on misinformation, whole lies, and half-truths that are served up daily through the many different media sources. Christians seem especially vulnerable as they are targeted by the world casting doubt on the truth to persuade them to adjust their belief in Jesus and God’s word. It is made a little more obvious each year when religious studies are made on the dropping number of people that believe in the Trinity and the Bible. Many Christians are allowing themselves to be dumbed down by the world until their faith is no longer viable. Ask Jesus to examine you for weaknesses then ask Him to examine your church and point out those whom you could lead to an intimate relationship with Jesus. Satan is doing his job correctly as churches are literally being destroyed, and not because of the church, it is we as individuals that are failing God. If you are waking each morning with mixed emotions, spiritless thoughts, and or an attitude that needs a lot of adjusting, please don’t dump it on the public. Take a few minutes to dump it on Jesus, He can handle it! After all, if you surrendered all to Jesus you need to be reminded of Romans 8:15-16 (ESV),15 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” 16 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. What this says, you become a partner of adjustment as you’re now under the authority of God!
Abba Father, I humbly enshrine you today with my deepest gratefulness for your grace and my heartfelt appreciation for the mercy you have for us. But most of all God, please accept my humble indebtedness for your loving us unconditionally, proven through the great sacrifices you made to set us free. Lord, I pray that every reader would join with me in praise, worship, and song because you alone are worthy. I pray we awaken to the excitement of a brand-new day expecting new miracles, May we beg for, accept all, and allow each adjustment that is needed to please you, so that we may bring more joy to those around us. Father God, please know even when I don’t act like it, I do appreciate your adjusting my nature to become more like yours. The fact is Lord, I love being out of my darkness and living in your light. You are truly a good, good God! Amen
