DAM-NATION!

All my life, I’ve heard people saying bad things about our nation and the government that runs it. Truthfully, I have been a complainer about the leaders of the U.S.A. I love this nation, despite the people trying to ruin it. I think the world would be a much better place with the absence of all people, but that’s not how God wanted His world to be. God created the world to be enjoyed and then created man to enjoy it, so He then could enjoy man. Read Genesis 1:1-24 to discover the recorded details of this event. Note, what is written in Genesis 1:27 (NLT), 27 So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God, he created them; male and female he created them.

God made man, to have dominion over His creation as is written in Genesis 1:28 (NLT), Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.” God was so proud of His human creation that He placed them in charge of His creation. But it seems, “no,” it’s fact, over the eons, we have not performed exactly as God would have liked. Humans fail God when there were only two in existence and the problems have exponentially grown as the number of humans grew. God’s creation learned fast and well, the temporal rewards in disobeying God’s desires and as a people, have tried to perfect the system of lying, cheating, stealing, to name a few from an endless list.

A subject where I receive the most resistance (from all sides) is the evaluation of our government leaders. I count myself guilty when it comes to negative comments toward those who serve. I tend to use them as scapegoats when the country is in a mess as if I could do better. I use them to cover and hide my inaction, to pray for this land. I fail so miserably to raise this country’s leaders to God in prayer. The truth is I find it so much easier to complain about the current situation than to ask God what can I do, I’m only one. There is nothing biblical about any of that! “Please get this!” From the creation of man to where we are today, changes have come corporately through the decisions made by one person at a time! Eve ate the apple, then Adam ate the fruit, each individually creating sin against God. Read the bible, it’s full of events of selfishness and greed as in Genesis 4:8, One day Cain suggested to his brother, “Let’s go out into the fields.” And while they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother, Abel, and killed him. Again, a single man with a single wrong desire to act selfishly against the desires of God. Individual acts changed the future of all mankind. Now, that’s POWERFUL!

I pray you can see where I’m going with this, if one person’s decision to disobey God can change the destiny of the whole world, what can one’s obedience to God bring. Here is where we need to make it completely personal. We seriously need to ask ourselves, when was the last time I hit my knees, with a broken heart, and through my tears ask God to heal this land? Your prayer may be the one He’s waiting for! You could be that single human that connects the chain of recovery. If you DAM this nation with a Desire for healing, along with an Ambitious determination for change, and are Motivated to seek God’s wisdom each day in praying for our leaders believing God is still on the throne, and He is still in control we shall witness change! Arise each morning with Philippians 2:13 (NLT), For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.

I think back to many years ago when my pastor gave me the wisdom for improving this land. He said, “if you cooperate with God in making you the best you that you can be (in Him), then you will change for the better, changing everything around you for the better. Your family will experience the change and enjoy a better land, ergo the people they interact with will see a better side, and the ripples will flow to places we can’t imagine. It all starts with you cooperating with God to make a better you!” I believe once we grasp the secret of DAM-nation; a wholehearted Desire for improvement, be Ambitious enough to do what God says, and Motivated enough to seek God’s wisdom each day, lives will be changed. So, I say HAPPY BIRTHDAY U S A, for your return to godliness, I will pray!

This week’s prayer is taken from 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NLT), Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. God grant each of us the mindset to know, that through you we have been given the power of miracles; please teach us to use it! Amen
