DISCOMBOBULATION!

Sunday’s Monday

My definition for discombobulated is merely a mixture of manipulation and multiplication! Whereas unbandictionary.com defines discombobulated as; When your mind has a million things running around in it and it makes you act like a fumbling retard. These two definitions sound different yet in actuality, they are the same. My reasoning is, “FOCUS”! It is all about the enemy of our soul interfering with the thoughts that are important for us. A good example for me is, when I am in my quiet time with God, Satan will give me a thought that needs my attention at that very moment, and once I ignore the thought, Satan will start to multiply it until a hundred other thoughts are racing through my mind trying to manipulate me into leaving the presence of God.

I believe Ephesians speaks to this in chapter 6: verses 11, Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. We aren’t responsible for the thoughts that come onto our mind however it is our choice as to whether we entertain them or not! Martin Luther said it best many years ago, "You cannot keep the birds of the air from flying over your head, but you can keep them from building nests in your hair!" I’ve been told that this doesn’t apply to people who can multitask, to which I reply “wrong!” Multitask refers to doing more than one thing at the same time, which is misleading! One may boil eggs and change the baby during the same period of time but not take off the baby’s diaper while placing the eggs in the pot, as it takes two hands to change a diaper. Most of us will likely become discombobulated with our thoughts when we focus on more than one task in each moment.

With that theory reformed we find ourselves on a level playing field of wisdom in defeating the discombobulation of our thoughts while serving Christ. BE PREPARED!! As it is written in Ephesians 6:12-18 (NLT), 12 For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. 14 Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. 15 For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. 16 In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. 17 Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. We are responsible and will be held accountable for the thoughts we receive, fertilize, water, and grow into attitudes for living. My forever after is affected by my thoughts and focus of today.

During my research on this subject, I discovered Satan’s most prized tool in discombobulation is that of comparison thinking. He can confuse and distort the mind of the smartest, greatest, and strongest people simply by having them compare what they do, to what others are or are not doing. Their focus is moved from the will of God to the desire of self. Sad but true! Many a man has fallen through a discombobulated mind, unsettling his spirit, allowing Satan an entrance. They gradually lose focus of the prize and soon their fire is merely cooled, smoldering embers. In God’s eyes, we are enough! Philippians 4:4-5 (NLT), 4 Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again, rejoice! 5 Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon. We need for others to see our focus stayed on God and not like fumbling retards when things aren’t like we want.

Lord I pray that we apply Romans 12:2 (NLT), Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. And Philippians 4:8 (NLT), And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Dear Lord please fill our heads and focus our hearts on You. Amen
