HE STOOD / I FELL!

Sunday’s Monday

Proven fact by those of us that have tried it! One cannot put the creator in a box as well, one is not wise to try to misdirect or lead the omnipotence of God toward what is comfortable for us. God is not a Mr. Potato Head (if you will) where pick and change what we don’t like into what we do. God is the all-knowing God! We find in Luke 6:40 (NLT), Students are not greater than their teacher. But the student who is fully trained will become like the teacher. God is either God of all or not at all! This is a daily choice that we each must make, “individually”, as we are each being held responsible and accountable for our choices. While I’m on this subject, I feel lead to enlighten some of you that even when we make bad choices “God is there” to see what we’ve learned thus far. I used to have a love hate relationship with this old gospel song “Stand By Me” sung by Ben E. King in 1962. God knows; He and I have certainly had our differences of truth over the years and when I did something stupid it was always because of what He did or didn’t do. But at my worst He stood by me with His best! Even when I cursed Him and demanded He not, He stood and continues to stand by me and each of His creations every day (of which I am living proof). I couldn’t see it then because I had to much of me in my life, blinding me to God’s love and presence which fills each day.

Here is a simple example of God standing with me, to which I can see and happily look for in my daily life today. As I was researching this week God led me to this gospel song released in 2020 by Matthew West, “Truth Be Told,” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4wYkS8Z3Io) which for me, truth was the only thing separating me from God. Again, I had no concept of the power in truth as it had become merely a tool to get by. Then God showed me, when you live a lie, you become a lie and I was a lie. Avoiding truth at every turn as it was always the most uncomfortable subject one could pick to discuss with me. “Now please get this”, I avoided ending many years of severe grief and sorrow to continue living in “that same” unwanted grief and sorrow all to avoid, facing the truth. Oh, sure! The truth can be so damning that the repercussions and humiliation can last a longtime, but admitting the truth is always the first and hardest step one will face in this earthly lifetime and yet it is so liberating (my opinion). It is the time when we understand Luke 6:41 (NKJV), And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not perceive the plank in your own eye? Simple stupidity (for me), I felt it hurt less, to hide my lies through my brother’s faults!

Not realizing at that time, everything which is good for us comes complete with Satan’s obstacles of deterrence. Which we excuse, as excuses toward avoiding our truth. I’m not as involved as I could be because _____ or I’m not as caring and thoughtful as I could be because _____. The time for manning up is today! Ask yourself questions such as these in the presences of God and answer each truthfully. This is something I wished I’d grabbed onto many years ago! But I chose to live a lie for most of my life, always compensating for bad choices which fed and grew a bottomless self-esteem. At one point in my life, I couldn’t tell the truth because I didn’t know what it was. But God was always there, just waiting for the Truth Be Told! Not because He didn’t know it, rather because He knew that I didn’t! Being my heavenly Father, God watched me ignore and pass up some real blessings through my choices of stupid pride and yet He blessed, protected, and loved me through it all. My desire today is to be the good tree spoken of in Luke 6:43 New (NKJV), “For a good tree does not bear bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. Again, and please think on this, at my worst God was at His best! I can’t imagine the heart ache and sorrow I’ve put Him through in those uncomfortable agony filled conversations with my got it under control attitude. Today is a new day gifted by God, that I may know His love for me and have an opportunity to clearly see the path He has for me as it is to my every advantage to cooperate with the Holy Trinity as best as I know how.

Dear Lord, I ask you this day to help each of us to understand what a treasure this passage is to have locked inside our heart. Isaiah 41:10 (NLT), Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. Your ultimate promise to end loneliness, weakness, and fear as we know it for we now have you to turn to for the truth within us. Thank you, Jesus, for loving us! Amen
