I’M NOT A SPACE CADET!

Sunday’s Monday

A topic which I hear a lot today deals with space, I hear people talk of such things as give them some space or I just need a little space. Dictionary.com describes the noun form of space as, the unlimited or incalculably great three-dimensional realm or expanse in which all material objects are located, and all events occur. Very interesting, however, the space within my subject is in the verb form, to set some distance apart. Have you ever thought about what it means to be set apart from, or exactly what takes place while apart from? Many have no clue they just know that they need time alone to be themselves and that’s messed up. It’s wrong to think that you have to go somewhere or be alone to be who you are. The truth is if you are following Jesus, you are already set apart by Him! As it is written in Jeremiah 1:5 (NLT), “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born, I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” We are set apart for service should we accept it.

I have found hidden within my own personal me time (space) a little more selfishness than I care to deal with. My me time is always me centered! That is why I think Satan entices me to have the need for personal space and call it alone time for dealing with life to help me be a better me. My me time is a lot about, what me wants to do, or to go to those places me shouldn’t go, I want mostly to fill the void in always putting others first, or to feel special, sometimes to make tough decisions, and mainly to be uninterrupted during all of this. Well, friends, let me tell you, it just doesn’t work for me. I don’t need nor do I want to be alone and here’s why. I’ve spent half my life operating within my own space and guess what! It was just as in those scary space movies, where everyone died but one. I felt millions of miles away from everyone, completely without physical contact. I was that guy that could be in a room filled with people and still be the loneliest man alive. I was in my space, right where I wanted to be! Traveling through time with no direction, no destination, no hope but in control, as I struggled to simply survive life’s journey. I was a mess and full-blown living out of the arrogance and pride spoke of in Proverbs 16:5(ESV), Everyone who is arrogant in heart is an abomination to the Lord; be assured, he will not go unpunished. Even after accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior, it took me years to figure out that the punishment spoken of was brought on by my own bad decisions and actions.

Today I officially announce in writing I am no space cadet! I do not need alone time because I have God’s Holy Spirit continually with me and Jesus is on my speed dial. I’ll never have another minute alone! Hallelujah! I don’t need an intermission from life to figure out who I am, God is teaching me to be who He says I am. This is one of the deals where you had to know me before Jesus to realize my life was, and is not, by chance nor coincidence. “God has a plan for me and once I gave in to following Him my life has changed completely for the better!” Today I live in an attitude of gratitude, with no regrets! Jesus has restored broken relationships, built new ones, sent me to unthinkable places, brought me before people I would not have otherwise met, and gave me rest, confidence, peace, and a desire to serve others as He directs. Please, believe me, I’m not tooting my horn, I am blasting His trumpet for all to hear! I believe what is written in Romans 8:37-39 (ESV), 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. We are never alone, regardless of circumstances or condition!

My prayer is for God to show us that we shouldn’t be seeking the me space, nor should you seek the He space, rather seek out the WE space to where a relationship with God is bound. We, humans, were created to need God first, others second, and self-last. Help us to live Romans 12:1-2 (NLT), And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice, the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. 2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. May God’s favor be upon all of you, be safe and well. Amen

HAVE A BLESSED WEEK BY BEING A BLESSING TO OTHERS!
