KISS UM!!
Sunday’s Monday
There is an interesting question that each of us need to be asking ourselves every day. People hear what we say and the see how we live. Question, Do they match up? Are we living according to what we know, or do we have a secret? Are we caught up in a double standard of life versus words and do we complicate things to hide our little secret? We all contain double standards, good versus evil and sometimes in our weakness we try to live both. However, it be hidden for long regardless of our efforts to conceal it. I had the privilege to view a memorial service which was streamed on January 19, 2021 and God has kept this subject on my mind ever since. I heard these words of wisdom spoken, “You teach what you know, but you reproduce what you are!” Simple explanation: “my mouth can be on fire for Jesus, but my soul is self-absorbed” as affirmed in Revelation 3:15 (NLT), “I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other! I used to be the greatest complicator!
I think the reason God gave me this subject is because most Christian’s have lost the use of spiritual discernment. Many Christian’s have become accustom to accepting too much “at face value” because it’s easy. Most will fall under the old “I don’t want to get to involved” syndrome, which helps them to cope. They feel comfortable and secure just completing the 3 B concept of today’s church, Be in church on Sunday, Be a tither and Be a good person. All admirable traits however alone they will not get one through the gates of heaven. As humans, we are capable of seeing what we expect to see in people, the naive sees everyone as good-ol-boys, however John in a letter to the church (we are the church) wrote in Revelation 3:1(NLT), that “God knows all the things you do, and that you have a reputation for being alive, but you are dead.” Whereas the skeptic sees most everyone as pretenders, Revelation 3:3(NLT), Wake up! Strengthen what little remains, for even what is left is almost dead. I find that your actions do not meet the requirements of my God. Then there is the truly spirit filled, who sees everyone through the discernment of Jesus, Revelation 3:6(NLT), “Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches. It’s true, each trait comes with its own virtues and or iniquities! The naive allows someone to say the prayer, be baptized and then set-in church every Sunday “for years” without ever having a real encounter with Jesus, (sadly some die without Jesus.) The skeptic will never reach out mainly because they don’t care, they have no motivation or desire to get involved, and most think it’s the pastor’s job anyway. But then there is that spirit filled person who prays for the discernment of God’s will, receiving spiritual excitement to seek what Jesus would have them do for others “in His name.”
God gave me the revelation of uncomplicating things in my new little acronym for kiss, Keep It Spiritually Simple! Now this is for me as I have a terrible predisposition to question and over think most everything until it becomes so complicated, I become confused. Now, if I can do that to me, think of how complicated it could become explaining the gospel to others. Then God gave me the secret to sharing Jesus with others, simply introduce them to Jesus and tell them what He has done for you. I felt and still feel that Jesus was able to meet and teach the poorest of peasants and the richest of kings because he could speak on and to the level in-which they lived. He used compassion to feel as they felt and remember what words comforted Him in a time of need. After years of complicating people’s lives with things of which they have little to no understanding, I now simply tell them how I feel about my savior Jesus and tell them of our relationship. No preaching or spouting of scripture, simply letting them see what’s in my heart, expecting Jesus to do the rest, “plus” I have a brotherhood of Jesus followers to help. Do you?
My prayer today is simple, Lord since Paul The Apostle said this twice, I’m praying this for all of us today Revelation 3:13(NLT), “Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches. Knowing that we are the church may you teach us how to speak those words you desire for people to understand. Help us Lord to remember the hurt and anguish that flows through the soul during a separation with you. Have each of us to quietly seek your Holy Spirit before, during and after those divine appointments you have for us. Let us remember, not our way but yours oh Lord! Amen
HAVE A BLESSED WEEK BY BEING A BLESSING TO OTHERS!
