PREDICULOUS!

Sunday’s Monday

I know the title sounds odd, but it could be considered an on-time word. “Preduculous” in the urban dictionary means, a combination of predictable and ridiculous. “When you know the outcome of a situation or event before it actually unfolds.” This is important to me as I had a long past of running my life my way, with my rules, and couldn’t figure out why things were always in a mess. For example, Every decision I made took me deeper into mayhem, and yet I continued to make all the decisions. Albert Einstein explains this as insanity in this quote, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results.” Can anyone relate? Unfortunately, this is where a lot of people are stuck in life, today. They resist change through rationalizing their mindset, some even adopt Christianity as a lifestyle, but they never surrender control. They expect Jesus to drive but they never take their hands off the wheel and to make things worse they think He’s working for them. So, like a dog that chases its tail, they end up exhausted, frustrated, and confused, with no clue as to why. Ergo, they do the same thing over and over again. Now that’s “prediculous.”

I can remember years ago when I was a member of the Frequent Fighter’s Club and by this, I mean fighting daily battles that didn’t need to be fought. I simply couldn’t let go and let God! Even though I found it easy to give God the problem, I couldn’t trust Him with full control. I was convinced that I could solve my corrupt worldly problems, with corrupt fleshly methods, devised from my corrupt human mind. Did you catch the common denominators here? I and corrupt which translates into, me and the world without God. Absolutely “predictulous”! Nothing good ever comes from corruption, it always ends in disaster. We, humans, are so gullible! The hardened truth is in Romans 7:14-15 (NLT), So the trouble is not with the law, for it is spiritual and good. The trouble is with me, for I am all too human, a slave to sin. 15 I don’t really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don’t do it. Instead, I do what I hate.

People spend years playing the Christian card, through church attendance, befriending spiritual leaders, community projects, quoting scriptures, as a means proving to this sinful world that they are not the problem. They self-medicate their very existence in seeking justification from guilt through the Christian community. They have discovered the world doesn’t care, so they seek Christian approval missing the fact, that nary a Christian has the power to forgive sin or change lives to the glory of God. To receive those results requires a total surrender to Jesus. I heard an analogy recently that captivated my being! A brother used a closed fist saying let’s pretend this closed fist is your soul, your mind, will, and emotions. Then he asks pointedly, do you understand? He then went on to say, deep within your soul (opening his hand to display his palm) is the spiritual depth where God resides. Then he closed his hand and again pointing to his knuckles said, many people think they’ve connected with God and have never entered His presence because they’ve stopped at the soul. Their sinful soul has convinced their intellectual mind that all is well because the soul and mind are in harmony. People have no zeal, neither do they desire to push into God’s presence as they are convinced all is well. Some people will serve God all their lives without ever having a heart for who God is. It is written in Romans 8:3-4 (NLT), The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins. 4 He did this so that the just requirement of the law would be fully satisfied for us, who no longer follow our sinful nature but instead follow the Spirit.

God does not measure us by situations, neither will we be condemned by our past. We are to simply allow God to love on us as we connect one on one (heart to heart) with Him.We all” have a seat on God’s lap and that’s where our true security, peace, and love will be found. So, USE IT! Read Romans 8:15-16 (NLT), So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” 16 For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children.

Father God, I pray that we each remember Romans 8:26-27 (NLT), And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. 27 And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will. Amen.
