STUPIDITY PROMOTED!

Sunday’s Monday

I was boldly brought to the revelation this week that more people than ever before are hearing words of wisdom, yet less refuse to accept them. The recorded cases of people choosing to live a life of denial and deflection are steadily on the rise. As humans, we are automatically primed to go off on the defensive when confronted with anything concerning that which may be considered personal. These people are easily offended, usually negative, and most always moody. You know, those that seem to be miserable in their own skin because they choose to believe only what suits their fancy at the moment. This type of truth is usually brief, sweet, and gone! If it’s one thing I’ve learned in this life, is the world is like a magician, it will entice you to watch the deception of its right hand while the trick is taking place in its left. We are warned in Colossians 2:8 (NLT), Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ. Think about this, we tend to live, think, and reason according to our desires and will!

Far too many people especially Christians are suffering because their real life is taking place behind a magic curtain. Oh, sure we all have little secrets that we hide, even though we shouldn’t, But I am speaking from a Doctor Jekyll and Mr. Hyde point of view. People living with multiple personalities, each with individual commitments, values, and natures. Many are so driven by low self-esteem, no self-confidence, and filled with fear of facing their past. Any of these and more could hinder them from ever getting a grip on a steady, confident lifestyle. They by default become pretenders of who they would like to be in this world. Some have extravagant ideals while others not so much. The most common thread in our dreams is we all have a strong innate desire to be accepted and loved. With this in mind one can see how people are drawn into doing what it takes to prosper, to live as a success, and ravel in luxury, all in the name of bragging rights. They seek their existence in the eyes of others. While others will seek to fake Joy, peace, love, and hope, desiring to be seen and known as good, respectable church people in their community. Although this may appease their true noncommittal nature for a while, their lust will always require more and the deception of the world in having them believe that they are safe, living an active life in the lust of the world while serving Jesus at the same time without knowing they’ve chosen to live hell here and now. One can’t imagine the excruciating torment contained within each day that a pretender lives. I used to tell a few of my close friends that going to church made me worse, because I always left with more to hide, than I had before going in. I couldn’t see beyond the church rules as in Colossians 2:21-23 (NLT), 21 “Don’t handle! Don’t taste! Don’t touch!”? 22 Such rules are mere human teachings about things that deteriorate as we use them. 23 These rules may seem wise because they require strong devotion, pious self-denial, and severe bodily discipline. But they provide no help in conquering a person’s evil desires.

After years of living in this perpetual struggle of Good and evil my sins started to tell on me, my sins were slowly killing me. The mental anguish became too great! I gave up trying, but even in my giving up God was relentless with His prodding. As corny as it may seem, the truth is, as I sank deeper into my suffering, God’s reach came farther down to pull me out and I got to tell you when He did, I never saw it coming! It wasn’t magic, it was a miracle, it was “my,” miracle because it brought life to me. No more religion or pretending, I just became without blemish before almighty God. Today, I only look back to praise and thank the one who gave me new life, “Jesus!” And on those days, I feel stale and slow in my spirit I turn to Colossians 3:12 (NLT) Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. With this, I find my precious beginning of following Jesus instead of religion and it’s because God chose me, I didn’t choose Him, I merely surrendered to the call of His Holy Spirit that’s birthed a relationship with He and me, for which there is no equal on this earth! Remember this please, true wisdom unaccepted and never used, is stupidity promoted to its highest level of deceit. Think about that for a while!

I pray Colossians 3:16-17 (NLT), 16 Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts. 17 And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father, over all of us this week. Amen
