THE FLOOD!

Sunday’s Monday

What exactly do you think of when you think of the great flood? My mind always jumps to Noah and The Ark where God destroyed every living thing except for what was on the Ark. This event can be found in Genesis chapter 6:-9: for research or to simply refresh your knowledge of the subject. This was a one-time experience as God made a covenant with Noah recorded in Genesis 9:15 (NLT), I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. God created the rainbow as a seal to remind Him of His covenant with Noah.

I’ve been taught the story of Noah, and I read about the flood in the scriptures, I believe the flood happened and water covered the earth but I also believe it’s a one n done event because the scriptures say so. In one of my recent conversations with Jesus, I was thinking on the subject and this thought came to me, God creates, and initiates the tone, then He allows me (us) to participate in it. The idea of the flood is right on track once seen from God’s perspective but from my point of view, I can experience a different kind of flood. I feel a flood of the Holy Spirit over me every time I’m among the wrong people or trapped in the wrong place being tempted to sin. This flood isn’t a one n done event it is an eternal promise from Jesus. Just as God did for Moses, Saul, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to name a few who entered a situation far beyond their control and God flooded them with The Holy Spirit and the evil submitted. We are told in Ephesians 1:22-23 (NLT), 22 God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church. 23 And the church is his body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with himself. Catch it! Christ fills all things everywhere with himself! And please be advised; God doesn’t need you to do anything, not one thing can you do for Him that He can’t do for Himself. He’s God, creator of all! He only seeks a strong loving relationship with you, so He can give you more, not for anything you can do. God desires for us to fall in love with Him with the same kind of love, He (God) has for us!

Many believers have no clue as to what can be gained through a true love encounter with Jesus. They can’t wrap their heads around the lavish rewards Jesus has for us and because of that, they miss the incredible power that comes with a life of following Jesus. The difference between having a love relationship or just being acquainted with Jesus is best described by my late pastor who would say, “You know Jesus is with you when you become a thermostat that sets the mood in the room, rather than a thermometer that merely reads said mood.” We have the unlimited power to release the greatest flood we will ever see and that is we can call down God’s Spirit until our surroundings are completely covered and overflowing with God’s love. Psalm 23:5 (NLT), You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings.

Lord; it is my prayer today that we each take comfort in Psalm 23:6 (NLT), Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever. Help us to love you and represent you well in bringing your witness before them. Thank You for the love You’ve endowed us with and the limitless supply that comes through faith in You. You are our flood of salvation. Amen
