Control Issues

Sunday’s Monday

I’m feeling so blessed to be a little pebble in God’s pond of eternity. Each day this week God has shown me new ways to create ripples of kindness in people’s lives. We had most of our family together last Sunday celebrating our family graduates and I got my little piece of heaven for the week. Pat and I had the honor of attending the 45th year ministry celebration breakfast of Bishop Don Bledsoe and had such a great time! God is awesome! We enjoyed lunch today with my daughter Christy Findley and her family.

God gave me some memories to look back on this week while He was spinning around inside my head. He gave me this question; exactly who is in control? Just how much do I really have to do with anything? As God was using my youngest grandson to help answer the questions with examples. My youngest grandson Adam Findley is helping me with my handyman projects this summer and knows little to nothing about how things have to be done. However, that doesn’t stop him from trying to do what he thinks is right. In most cases it doesn’t work out the first time, but he tried, and I tell him just as God tells me in James 1:5 ESV, If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. I desire him to learn everything that he can and to do what he can with the best attitude and skills that he possesses. I have learned over the years that the work place can be one of the most valuable podiums in-which God has to work from. It is a place where we are stretched to the limit, taunted to the fullest, tested to the max and proven for who we are and not who we perceive ourselves to be. It is on the job that we acquire the accessibility into more people’s lives than anywhere in our life. The work place can be the strongest strong hold for showing (living) the grace of God than any church will ever see. We have the perfect opportunity to speak into people’s lives but even more than that we have the opportunity, to show rather than tell. Titus 3:14 ESV, And let our people learn to devote themselves to good works, so as to help cases of urgent need, and not be unfruitful. Cases of urgent need can involve a lot of different situations; however, I think that love, concern, empathy and encouragement cover most all of them. I know that God accompanies the love of one human to another as He seeks to perfect it. I am so proud that God is using my grandson to enlighten and remind me of the revelation of His work. If Adam learns nothing else from me this summer, I pray that he learns Philippians 2:13 ESV, For it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. Lord forgive me for every day I came home complaining about my job situations in front of my children and my wife. I failed to realize then just how blessed I was and am! There are thousands of people who would love to have the health, the means and the where-with-all to get and hold down a job and God has chosen to bless me with all of these. God has provided a position of hard, dirty, hot and freezing work and I love it! It took me forever to wake up to the fact, almost every job that I hated, I went against God and chose it for myself and it inevitably became what I made it to be. Ego equals suffering when it lacks wisdom and attitude is the nail of doom when unchecked and left to fester. Ecclesiastes 10:10 (ESV), If the iron is blunt, and one does not sharpen the edge, he must use more strength, but wisdom helps one to succeed. I have learned that anything done half-heartedly will not bring joy to anyone (especially me). Over time this scripture has come to life, Ephesians 5:15-17 ESV, Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. I realize that I have little to no control of next breath, I have no control in matters beyond my understanding. I do know that God is always with us, drawing and us to Him. I do however have the free will to be positive, upbeat, kind, concerned and encouraging, as I have met no one with these features suffering from bad attitude! They are living a joyful life! Remember, the few choices that we have, are of eternal proportion. Choose wisely!

HAVE A BLESSED WEEK BY BEING A BLESSING TO OTHERS!
