Ignorance Ignored!
Sunday’s Monday
On 05-24-2020 I, inspired by God published a Sunday’s Monday titled Ignoring Ignorance and since I’ve been learning more about ignorance. Contrary to popular belief ignorance is a personal choice it’s not in our genes, it has nothing to do with inheritance or blood line. People are ignorant about things which they have little to no interest in. As brother Mike Shehan stated at one of our Bob Group Meetings, I can’t believe what this body did under its old management, but under the new management (Jesus) the old man has been put to death and by God’s authority the new man is flourishing as a sweet aroma to all God’s creation. (paraphrased but the substance is there.) We each need to catch hold of 2 Peter 2:12 (ESV), 12 But these, like irrational animals, creatures of instinct, born to be caught and destroyed, blaspheming about matters of which they are ignorant, will also be destroyed in their destruction. Again, ignorance is a voluntary choice of our own making!
The whole world is scrambling today trying to make sense of all the destruction that is taking place. We’re seeing fires, floods, tornadoes, snows, drought, a pandemic, and deaths of biblical proportion. Causing some ignorant people to depend on media sources with worldly agendas. Both traditional and social media formats are tainted with worldly influences and deserves great discernment as it may be contrary to the word of God. As is described in 2 Peter 3:16 (NIV), He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction. Unfortunately, todays Christians add the church to this mix of confusion to which the pulpit may vary from church to church as to what is best for God’s people. We each face the daunting ordeal of discernment in that much of the information being broadcast is merely opinion and or theory as little is actually proven to date.
God through Peter gave us 2 Peter 3:17 (NIV), Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure position. Again, I turn to Mike Shehan who gave testimony to his revelation from some years back, why would I worry about what might happen next week, when I have a 61year track record of God taking good care of me! (paraphrased)Breaking it down a little more, God looked after Mike even when Mike wasn’t looking for God and at some point, Mike knew that he knewthe truth and ignorance no longer had a place in Mike’s life. Mike’s comment stirred and filled my spirit with hope! I must say my brethren in Jesus, sharing God’s word, are a vital source in my quest to defeat my own ignorance both spiritual and worldly.
My prayer this week is from Ephesians 4:18 (NIV), They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. Lord I pray that we who believe come to our senses and return to gathering with the followers of Jesus. In that while the governments of this world are desperately attempting to separate and destroy the worship of God. May their efforts drive us deeper into our love for God, our relationship with Jesus and our willingness to operate through your Holy Spirit. Help us to understand Ephesians 5:15-17 (NIV), 15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish but understand what the Lord’s will is. Teach each of us to overcome our own ignorance in all things! Amen
