Doors have two sides

Sunday’s Monday

God has been busy this week leading me into situations of divine growth. My week started with the completion of a God chosen handyman project of which I’d never tried and of course nothing went right but God led me right through it. I had the privilege of attending a leadership meeting of Brother Night and I was in awe at the wisdom God assembled around that table (I was blown away). Meals on Wheels had an open house to which I was asked to speak on behalf of the volunteers who deliver (wow). Our great grandson celebrated his first birthday this week! I am so blessed in God’s love and favor!

I have been amazed and so humbled this week in examining the opportunities that God has availed to me. I am truly unworthy of any honor as there are those that are much better prepared in experiences to meet the needs of each opportunity, but God chose me. I’m privileged, pleased and overwhelmed each time God calls on me because I can immediately think of someone who would be better at whatever He has. But God is God! When I asked Him why me lord, He led me to this scripture; Revelation 3:8 (NIV), I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name. I believe the door God speaks of here can be equated to opportunity in today’s English and no one can shut it, “however” we can refuse to pass through it. God has given me the opportunity to set at His table with a group of well educated, Jesus followers and I am in awe of His decision to grow me in this area. If there is one thing that I’ve learned since I started following Jesus, is there are two sides to every door and on the outside of the door there is always fear and apprehension while on the inside there is peace and strength. Although it is important to realize that there may be a period of temptation and trial to which the rewards will overcome in God’s time. I used to struggle with the term “rewards of God,” for me a reward was supposed to be obvious, instant, good and welcomed. That is until God taught me the truth! For example, we have had a series of situations with our automobiles over the last several months and a person stated that we’d had bad luck with our cars lately, to which I shared something that God gave me a few years ago. “I don’t consider it luck of any kind, for me it’s a blessing,” To which he exclaimed, “how do you get that!” My reply, “no one got hurt, I got free towing, I have a great mechanic and the money to pay for the repairs. Now I ask you to show me a better example of God protection and provision.” Then I added meekly, “besides God is building a relationship between me and the people at the garage!” I remember a slang saying that went around some years ago, “it’s just a thang” well today for me “it just a door,” an open door with a God opportunity behind it and to quote another old saying, “mine is not to reason why, mine is just to do or die.” Ephesians 5:15-17 (NIV), 15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish but understand what the Lord’s will is. God in His long suffering for me finally got me to see that His doors don’t always have an obvious color, size or a sign to mark it as a God door. There are several things God has taught me about His doors and now they are my personal points when I talk to God about doors. I’ve found there are times that my spirit can sense, what my mind can’t see! I have never walk through a door where the outcome only affected me, neither have I crossed the threshold of a door alone, nor have I ever entered a door with all the answers. For me, in times of situations, times of great joy, times of stagnation, times of mass confusion, I ask God if this is a door that I am to enter and to test the spirit I ask God “will you lead me! Should anyone desire to find God’s open doors of today let them try living; Galatians 6:10 (NIV), Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. Please know that God will never lead you through a door that isn’t His! The key is, talking to God, studying His word and seeking wise counsel!

HAVE A BLESSED WEEK BY BEING A BLESSING TO OTHERS!
