Weekly Reading: Isaiah Chapters 48-52
Focal Chapter: 49
My Reward: Isaiah 49:2 (ESV)……………. September 5, 2018
Scripture focus for me: Isaiah 49:2 (ESV), He made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand he hid me; he made me a polished arrow; in his quiver he hid me away.
Why did this scripture engage me: I’ve had a long-standing joke about my desire to run my mouth; I tell people it’s not my fault, the blame goes to God and my mother, God gave me this mouth, mom taught me how to use it and its been running ever since. Which in the beginning wasn’t actually a good thing for the simple reason, I had nothing worthwhile to say. He took this dull tongue of the darkness, sharpened and polished it and gave me volumes of true life testimonies to fill the hearts and ears of my listeners, along with His love and favor to do so.
Life Changer: There is nothing better or more rewarding than to share the good news of Jesus with everyone I meet. However, I’m asking God to help me be more intentional, enthusiastic and immediate in sharing with those He brings across my path and to supply the words and actions that is needed for each situation.
Prayer of gratitude and purpose: Lord, help me with my ups and downs, in sharing your love with the world. Open my mind as to your ability in persuading people to hear the good news. Open my heart that I might gain your desire to help the lost and please God help me to deepen my relationship with you. Amen
