CHRISTMAS FAITH!

Sunday’s Monday

Have you ever seriously sat for any length of time wondering why there is a Christmas season? Is it something that man invented to capitalize on and to feed his need for greed and notoriety or is it just something to distract people's minds while disputing the reason for the season? Satan is very good at misleading! This writing is just one of such events that I go through from time to time. Just sitting and wondering out loud with Jesus. It’s an opportunity to be reassured that I’m still walking in His footsteps. I love that He loves me enough to ensure that I know He understands what I’m going through. He chose to join humanity placing Himself as (my equal) to live, work, suffer, and hurt, facing life as we do. Read The Book of Luke!

However, there is so much more to be pulled from this season as it overflows in abundance with nuggets full of God’s wisdom. The true beauty within this story strikes me as odd: how “absolutely unbelievable” it is. My thoughts dive into the question, why did “the creator of all” use a story that so many would or could not believe? The answer that satisfies me to date is “Faith!” Faith takes every individual to a place within themselves that only (the man) Jesus has been before. Yes! Satan is there as well but Satan has never been human. This is “that one place of all the places” that we never dare reside in for long periods because it holds our garden of hidden roots. The place where we bury our deepest most damning hurts to protect us from past heartbreak and pain. Yes! I know roots can be ugly but great turmoil continues to boil within us ravishing our peace with self and God. Plus, we (totally) miss the point that God is showing us, dealing with our greatest hurts opens the very doors to our greatest freedoms in Him.

This might be a good place to interject that we get reminded of this dreaded place when The Holy Spirit disturbs our peace with feelings of unresolved issues we need to deal with. Many reluctantly go through the motions, cooperating with Jesus just enough to deaden the pain. Others will follow the process until the pain becomes great and simply abandon the issue leaving it unresolved. In any case, a root does what a root does, it grows into an even greater memory continually ready to bring deeper pain and agony over and over again. The truth is each unsuccessful trip allows the root to gain strength and tenacity deterring further attempts of removal. This is the wisdom that I want to point out to all who read this. Look at the people God used to complete His story. Mary, the perfect vessel to contain, carry, and birth the Son of God, was reluctant at first because of her reputation but uttered these immortal words recorded in Luke 1: 38 (NLT), Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.” And then the angel left her. One can only imagine what filled Joseph’s heart in finding his wife “to be” pregnant and he had never had relations with her. His reputation as a man was being threatened, yet Joseph yielded to his faith in God. All parties realized that because of their faith, they were living Matthew 20:28 (NLT), For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Dear God, I pray this is clear enough to remind us each morning that we have a calling in our lives. We are the rebirth of Jesus every time we show God’s love to another of His creation. Father, I thank you for recording John 3:16-17 (NLT), 16 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. 17 God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him. I ask you Father to bring Your great awakening of unconditional love to our forefront. Maybe this year instead of stockings “may we hang our hearts instead for the renewed collecting of your purity to be shared with the world.” I pray, Luke 2:14 (NLT), “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.” HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS! Amen
