FAITH! FALLACY, FICTION, or FACT?
Sunday’s Monday
Faith is not fable, fiction, or fact, neither is it luck, coincidence, or destiny although many nonbelievers are desperately using such words to discredit the meaning of what they cannot understand. To be sure you are following along with what I’m saying by getting us on the same page. I’ve turned to dictionary.com for the secular definition of faith; 1- confidence or trust in a person or thing: 2- belief that is not based on proof: This truly baffles those that don’t possess a strong belief system, the kind that produces faith. The fact is, such people may never gain an understanding of faith because they can’t or won’t allow themselves to accept what, science has no tangible proof as to its validity. The fact that people are giving up everything, including their life, in their support of a very strong faith. Doubters are baffled at the power within one’s faith and try repeatedly to harness the power within this fallacy by pretending to be filled with faith.
The world simply dismisses the writings within the book of Hebrews because reading it doesn’t produce understanding nor does it create faith. Hebrews 11:1 (NLT), Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see. The knee-slapper here is “those who have no understanding, believe they are supposed to understand it.” We who believe, faithfully trust, Jesus is who He says He is and He did what He said He did and we understand His ways and thoughts are higher than ours. It is by faith that we who believe, believe what is written in Hebrews 11:3-5 (NLT), 3 By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen. 4 It was by faith that Abel brought a more acceptable offering to God than Cain did. Abel’s offering gave evidence that he was a righteous man, and God showed his approval of his gifts. Although Abel is long dead, he still speaks to us by his example of faith. 5 It was by faith that Enoch was taken up to heaven without dying—“he disappeared, because God took him.
It is important to acknowledge Hebrews 11:6 (NLT), And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. This is so plain that even the spiritually blind can see what is being said, however, it cannot make them understand it. You see Jesus is a God of relationships and He deeply desires a loving, trusting relationship with each one of us. Truly! God’s plan of reconciliation is to be one with us, in a relationship so deep and strong that we grow in His spirit, gaining His virtues and traits as we spend time with His Trinity and become obedient to His will. The way this works is our faith in Jesus will only become as strong as our belief in Him, in- which is indicative of the depth of our trust. The thing I do understand is; I would have to live under a rock if I chose to survive through my understanding of life in general!
Here's the rub; there will be bad moments and tough situations because we live in a fallen world. Hebrews 11: tells us how we will be groomed and tested in our commitment to God and what awaits us if we remain steadfast. Expect as it is all part of the process of growing to gain a heart for Jesus. The great news is in Hebrews 11:39-40 (MSG), 39-40 Not one of these people, even though their lives of faith were exemplary, got their hands on what was promised. God had a better plan for us: that their faith and our faith would come together to make one completed whole, their lives of faith not complete apart from ours.
Father God, I come into your presence with ever-flowing gratitude, and an abundance of praise and worship for you. Lord, it is your heart that I seek, your virtues that I desire, and your spirit to show me the way. Abba, my joy represent Romans 10:9-10 (NLT), 9 If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. For me this is the greatest of all messages that I will ever live before those in this world, may I present it well. Amen
